Palletways Birmingham has made two internal promotions to support its business and a growing customer base, recognising people who have helped the depot expand.

Rachel's take

Promoting from within is how you keep good people in this industry. The firms that build a visible career ladder are the ones that hold on to their best commercial talent.

Two steps up

Jessica Browne has been promoted to Business Development Manager and Joshua Marklew to Customer Service Supervisor, two roles that sit close to customers and revenue.

The depot is part of the Palletways UK palletised freight member network and works with customers across Birmingham, Staffordshire and the wider West Midlands from its base in Lichfield.

Promoting from within

Joint depot manager Kristie Hawkins said she was delighted to recognise people who have contributed to the depot's success and growth.

Promotions like these are a reminder that commercial capability is often built and rewarded inside a business, not only hired from outside it.

What this means for commercial teams

  • Strengthening business development and customer service teams is a clear marker of a depot planning for more volume.
  • When networks reward internal commercial talent, the wider market for experienced sales and account managers tends to tighten.
